Does Spirituality Matter In Retirement?

Whenever spirituality and the term retirement occur in the same sentence, there never seem to be anything uplifting about the article in question.

It's almost as if it's a question about preparing to meet your 'Maker' or receiving last rites. But what does the term mean to you anyway? Have you ever thought about it?

Well, I took a look at a couple of dictionaries and they all had the following aspects in common in defining the term: "...the quality of the one who has moral and religious values".

I wonder how many thinks that this is something to be found in church or in a particular religious organization? If you spent the early part of your working years consumed with day to day living, the office, your career etc., it is especially useful to give some thought to this as you're nearing or are in the second half of life.

I'm going to level with you by saying that I was hesitant about including this topic on the website. But then I thought to myself there cannot be true balance in life without it.

Whether you're a christian, muslim or other religious persuasion, it's almost impossible to enjoy the second half of your life (or the first part for that matter) without its balancing effect in your life.

More importantly, I think it is within anyone's reach, in any stage of life, provided that you're someone who is conscious of your need to find true worship. And that involves prayer for God's guidance in developing a strong relationship with your Creator.
