Brain Teasers: Boost Your Learning Ability In Retirement
Are brain teasers part of your regular daily routine? The closer you
get to retirement, the more you should be in the habit of using them.
Too often, you may hear colleagues or friends excuse themselves from
mental activities by saying they are too old to learn. You and I both
know that is a load of...you know what.
Studies show that you have the ability to continue to learn at a high
rate until the end of your life. Of course there is no denying the fact
that as you get older, the brain also ages and you lose brain cells.
However, the loss is not as dramatic as once thought according to
neurologists. Moreover, recent findings suggest that even the
long-held conviction that humans cannot grow new brain cells is,
at the very least, “far too sweeping,” according to Neuroscientists.
Scientists say that they have now collected evidence that even elderly people
“do create additional neurons by the hundreds.” If that is not motivation
enough to get your daily dosage of brain teasers, I don't know what is.
In addition to brain teasers, you may want to consider engaging in
educational travel,
professional associations, religious groups as early as possible and throughout your retirement.
Also, take a course in something such as basic computers. As a
side benefit, you will master the internet in no time and discover all sorts of ways to
make money online.
After all, we can never have too much income now, can we?
Brain builders are as important in your daily routine as 30 minutes of some moderate physical exercise such as
fitness walking.
Together all of these activities will contribute to rewiring your brain.
Look, all the experts agree on one thing (for once). When you retire
there's a good chance for mental decline simply because you will
take it easy more and you will not force yourself to keep up with the
world anymore.
It doesn't have to be that way. Mental exercise can be the make or break
point for you. So get your daily dosage of mental exercise and keep your
intellectual prowess at its peak.
